On Saturday, May 24, the Path of the Flood Historic Races rushed down the valley and into Peoples Natural Gas Park! This collaborative event is presented by the Cambria County Conservation & Recreation Authority, National Park Service, and Heritage Johnstown.
Here are some comments from runners:
“I am nowhere near an avid runner but really enjoy it and get so much out of it and its races like yours that were so well organized and thought out and I also know how much work there is putting something like that on too. I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciated it and enjoyed it, even my husband said what a nice race it was!”
“I wanted to let you (and your team) know how much I love the Path of the Flood Race. Last year was my first time running it, and it immediately became my favorite course I’ve run. This year did not disappoint. I love the trail/course itself and the history. The tshirts, bag, medals, beer, pizza, pint glass, etc are all PERFECT.”
“I wanted to take a moment to thank you and your team of race volunteers who helped support another great Path of the Flood race experience. The few I can think of include the volunteers at bib pick-up, the individual directing runners to the correct bus for their race distance, the bus drivers, the start line crew ( including gear drop-off ), run course support (including those at aid stations and those at intersections ), the finish line crew, the post race party including the band. I apologize if I left anyone out. Please pass this along that all of their time and efforts are greatly appreciated by all of the runners, and walkers alike. I have run many, many races in many, many places and this one stands out as quite unique.”
There are so many people to thank — but we’d like to send a big shout-out to our volunteers, including Mark Voelker, our race director; and our sponsors, whose steadfast support makes the race possible. Thank you to all who ran or otherwise supported the event, and we’ll see you next year!
