Today JAHA announced that it has joined Museums for All, a signature access program of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), administered by the Association of Children’s Museums (ACM), to encourage people of all backgrounds to visit museums regularly and build lifelong museum-going habits.
Through the program, anyone receiving food assistance (SNAP) can visit Johnstown Flood Museum or Heritage Discovery Center/Johnstown Children’s Museum for a reduced admission fee of $3 per person, anytime the museums are open. The reduced admission is available for up to four people with the presentation of a SNAP Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card.
“Access to museums is important, and participating in this program helps make visiting our museums affordable for all,” said Richard Burkert, JAHA president and CEO. “We especially hope to reach families who might otherwise not be able to visit the Johnstown Children’s Museum.”
Similar reduced admission is available to eligible members of the public at more than 900 museums across the country, including art museums, children’s museums, science centers, botanical gardens, zoos, history museums, and more. Participating museums are located nationwide, representing all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. Virgin Islands.
