As of September 15 the Johnstown Flood Museum and Heritage Discovery Center/Johnstown Children’s Museum are moving to fall/winter hours: open Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10:00 am-5:00 pm, Sunday noon-5:00 pm; and closed Tuesday-Wednesday.

We will update this alert ribbon (and, in the instance of longer closures, the Heritage Johnstown Facebook Page) if either or both museums are closed due to severe weather (which can include heat).

On March 18, 2026, Dr. Paul Newman, professor of history at Pitt-Johnstown, presented “HerStory: Women at the American Revolution” at the Heritage Discovery Center. This fascinating lecture was made possible by the American Association of University Women, which has graciously made their professional recording of the lecture available to Heritage Johnstown. We’re delighted to share it here, just in time for the America250 celebration!
