The Johnstown Flood Museum and Heritage Discovery Center/Johnstown Children’s Museum are currently operating on a winter schedule: open Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10:00 am-5:00 pm, Sunday noon-5:00 pm; and closed Tuesday and Wednesday. We will update this alert ribbon (and, in the instance of longer closures, the Heritage Johnstown Facebook Page) if either or both museums are closed due to severe weather.

Beginning May 1, we will resume visitor season operating hours of open all days except Tuesday.

Christmas Tree & Christmas Village

Christmas Tree & Christmas Village

Date/Time
Date(s) - November 21, 2025 - January 8, 2026

Location
Peoples Natural Gas Park
90 Johns St.
Johnstown, PA

Peoples Natural Gas Park is the temporary home for Discover Downtown Partnership’s Christmas Tree and Christmas Village in 2025 (shown above during Light-Up Night, Nov. 21! Drone photo courtesy of Visit Johnstown). All parties worked so hard to make this possible, from figuring out the technical and logistical requirements to negotiating a nominal rental fee to cover our costs to keep that space open during winter (of course, there is no admission fee to come in to see the tree).

Come by nightly to see the animated Christmas tree and 40 custom-built homes! (Please be advised that no pets are allowed at Peoples Natural Gas Park– service animals in harness are welcome).

Daily Schedule

  • Gates open at noon, close at 11:00 pm everyday
  • Tree lighting time is 5:00-11:00 pm everyday
  • Stone Bridge lighting time is 5:00-11:00 pm everyday (Heritage Johnstown is pleased to extend the regular three hours per evening to six, so that all can enjoy the bridge and the tree together!)

Otherwise, the building will be closed as it is used for storage, and the pipes to the restrooms are drained to prevent them from freezing. Portajohns will be available on site.
